Allergens in belVita, flavor by flavor

Every belVita label lists wheat and soy. A handful add something else. Here is the whole range in one table, with what U.S. law asks a label to say.

What a label has to say

U.S. food labels follow the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act. The FDA explains what it requires:

FALCPA requires that food labels identify the food source names of all major food allergens used to make the food.

The list of major allergens grew to nine in 2021:

On April 23, 2021, the Food Allergy Safety, Treatment, Education, and Research (FASTER) Act was signed into law, declaring sesame as the 9th major food allergen recognized by the United States.

Every flavor, one table

The "contains" column is the allergen statement from each flavor's label. "May contain" is a separate line some labels add. The table covers 17 flavors. Variety packs are left out because each pack inside carries the label of its own flavor.

The exceptions

Soft Baked Banana Bread lists wheat and soy and may contain peanut, tree nuts. Soft Baked Oats & Chocolate lists milk. Toasted Coconut Breakfast Biscuits lists coconut. Every other flavor stops at wheat and soy.

None of the flavors here is gluten-free: wheat flour is in every recipe. If gluten is the reason you read labels, this range is not for you.

Variety packs and bags

A variety case holds packs of several flavors, and each pack carries its own label. So the allergen line to trust is the one on the pack you open, not a summary for the case. Recipes also change over time. The label on the box in your hand is the final word, and if it disagrees with this page, tell us and we will fix the page.

This page explains what the labels say. It is not medical or dietary advice. If you manage a food allergy, diabetes or another condition, go by your own clinician and by the label on the box you buy.
